Below are pictures and updates from D's new family in Mechanicsville, MD. Click here to see pictures of D during his first 8 weeks at Deepwood Acres. Pictured below at 2 years old.         Just dropping a line to send some updated pics.  One of "D's" favorite past times is still camping - the first picture is of him at Jellystone of the Natural bridge.  He loves it when we camp where he can swim.  The second is of us driving there.  He is such a good boy when we go anywhere and is so attentive to everything going on around him.  The last three are of him with his baby sister, he loves her so much and is so protective of her.  Whenever she is sitting on the floor he comes and sits behind her with one arm on each side and keeps her from falling over.  If she is laying down playing he has to be laying so close he is touching her.  I am always right there when he is laying with her just to be on the safe side so he does not accidentally step on her. "D" just had his yearly check up to get his updated shots.  He did great and the vet gave him a clean bill of health.  He weighed in at 148 lbs, the vet said he does not expect him to get much bigger but is a perfect weight for his build. It's so hard to get a good shot, he never wants to be more than 2 feet from me especially when I have a camera LOL.  I have to be quick to get a pic of him and Chloe.  They act like they don't want to be seen together, true brother and sister. D is up to 70 lbs now and loves camping.  Two weeks ago we went to Beth Page.  He likes that campground better than Point Lookout because the water is right there and he is a huge fan of swimming. He also can't resist the water hose.  I saw a picture of his dad jumping in the air after the water and can't help but think that will be him some day.  He also goes to see my grandmother at least once a week.  She is older and not in the best of health and I think he can tell.  The first thing he does when we walk into her room is lay his head on her lap and is always so gentle with her.

Just a little note to let you know things are going great.  "D" had a very exciting weekend.  It was his first trip to New York.  He loved it and got to meet his puppy cousins.  They fell in love with each other as soon as he walked in the door.  He has not been able to be around many other dogs yet until his shots are done so he was so excited to get to play with them.  Will attatch pics.

We had our first vet visit today.  He did great they said he is in perfect condition.  Everyone oooed and aaahhd over him.  I think even the vet was in love.  The nurses kept coming in and stealing him to show him off.

He is settling in great.  He has already picked a favorite place to sleep, right between the table where my laptop sits and the ac vent.  He wasn't so sure about the crate the first night and it was so hard not to just snuggle him up in our bed but we stuck it out and now he's doing great with it, slept most the way through the night.

This is Chloe (the cat) playing with "D".  It was love at first sight, she has never taken to a dog like this before but as soon as she saw him she ran up to him and started rubbing all over him.
